Meaningful engagement of communities affected by TB has been inadequate in development of National Strategic Plan (NSP). Despite communities of people affected by TB are critical to ending TB yet, they are most times excluded in major decision-making processes including planning and coordination of NSP development.

The launch of the Declaration is a significant step in recognizing the urgent need to adopt a human rights-based approach to TB and fund human rights-based interventions that overcome barriers to universal access.

TBpeople is seeking input from broader global community - and especially people affected by TB - on the first draft of the Declaration on the Rights of People Affected by TB.
