2018 World TB Day theme announced

Wanted: Leaders for a TB-Free World
You can make history. End TB

Each year, on 24 March, the world marks World TB Day. TB remains the world’s leading infectious killer, being responsible for the deaths of nearly 1.7 million people each year and representing the ninth leading cause of death globally. The day is an occasion to mobilize political and social commitment for further progress towards eliminating TB as a public health burden.

Further to a series of consultations with partners, the Stop TB Partnership is pleased to announce the theme for World TB Day 2018:

Wanted: Leaders for a TB-Free World
You can make history. End TB

The full set of campaign materials and social media content will be available on the Stop TB Partnership’s website on 1 March 2018.

Join the Stop TB Partnership’s yearly campaign ‘Light up the World for TB’

World TB Day is an opportunity for people everywhere to join this fight by helping to educate others about TB and by urging governments to take action. Now is the time to join the global movement in making a powerful statement and show solidarity.

What does it take?

Together we can turn the world RED on World TB Day to shine a light on devastating conditions. The Stop TB Partnership kindly challenge all its partners to work with authorities in cities across the world to light up their landmarks in red on 24 March 2018 to show their commitment towards ending TB.

In the last two years, cities and landmarks across the world such as Barcelona, Rio, Karachi, Budapest and Niagara Falls amongst others participated in this exciting initiative. Watch the video here and see here for a full list of the cities.
