First WHO Global Ministerial Conference on Ending TB: Conference proceedings
The first WHO Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Tuberculosis (TB) in the Sustainable Development Era: A Multisectoral Response (16/17 November, Moscow) brought together 79 Ministers, and a total of 117 country delegations, as well as representatives of civil society, multilateral organizations, researchers and other partners.
President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation opened the Conference, together with Amina J Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary General, and Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General.
The two-day conference resulted in collective commitment to ramp up action to end TB by 2030. The Moscow Declaration to End TB is a promise to increase multisectoral action including for universal access to care and prevention, for increased and sustainable financing, and for research and innovation, as well as to track progress, and build accountability. It will inform the first UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on TB in 2018, which will seek further commitments from heads of state.
