Call for new membership: Communities Delegation to UNITAID Board

The Communities Delegation to the UNITAID Board represents people living with and affected by HIV, TB and malaria and those co-infected with HIV and HCV, at the UNITAID Board and Committee level.

The Communities Delegation to the UNITAID Board represents people living with and affected by HIV, TB and malaria and those co-infected with HIV and HCV, at the UNITAID Board and Committee level. The Communities Delegation aims to be transparent, accountable and to prepare communities at grass roots and country level to engage in UNITAID work, working to raise awareness to increase the debate about the UNITAID work areas that directly affect those living with the diseases at country level, especially in the global south.

During 2015, the Communities Delegation reconstituted itself to serve its seat on the UNITAID Board and is currently hosted by GNP+ based in Cape Town, South Africa. For more information about the Delegation's mission, vision, goals and charter, please find the Communities Delegation Handbook here.

After a first recruitment phase, the Communities Delegation would now like to recruit additional members from under-represented regions and disease areas and hereby issues a new open call soliciting applications. The Terms of Reference for the Delegation members can be found in the Communities Delegation Handbook with a description of the selection process as well as the criteria and desired profile of the members. Community members from UNITAID implementing countries in Asia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as candidates with expertise in HIV/HCV co-infection and intellectual property are encouraged to apply. You will find an overview of the UNITAID implementing countries here.

Interested community members are now invited to submit an Expression of Interest via email to wvandevelde@gnpplus.net. Applicants will receive a form to collect contact details, expertise, as well as the answers to three questions about UNITAID, the role of the Communities Delegation and for information about priorities in one of the disease areas. Deadline for submissions is Friday June 17th COB.
